Cambridge Elementary Community Service Project Goes to the Dogs

Cambridge Elementary Zoo Explorers had the opportunity to observe a military working dog in action when Patrick Air Force Base SSgt Sonnier and his dog came for a visit. The Cambridge Elementary Zoo Explorers have been helping the dogs that serve in the armed forces as part of a community service project.  Students decorated and packaged dog bones to send to the canines that help protect our country.  In addition, the students did not forget the dogs’ handlers, writing letters and cards for the service men and women.

“The reward for the students is the happy faces of the service men and women and the tail wags of their K-9 partners as they enjoy the yummy treats and realize that we appreciate their commitment to protecting our country,” said project coordinator and Cambridge Elementary Teacher, Karen Rush.
