Endeavour Elementary Opens Parent Literacy Center

On November 15, 2010, Endeavour Elementary opened its “Parent Literacy Center,” with the goal of providing a safe, calm environment that encourages and challenges parents to further their education.  The Parent Literacy Center (PLC) is open Monday thru Friday, from 7:30-9:30 and 2:00-5:00. Classes are offered in Adult Basic Education, G.E.D. preparation, citizenship, and ESOL.  The Endeavour PLC is run by volunteers, and gives the parents the opportunity to come out and learn in a print-rich environment.  Parents may receive free child care in the afternoon by enrolling their children in Endeavour’s afterschool Zoo Explorer program. The PLC is a win-win for everyone:  parents and their children!

In the spring, the PLC will also be partnering with Workforce America in order to give parents the chance to study and receive a work certification to help support them in their job search.  The PLC is open to anyone that lives in the Cocoa High School feeder chain.  Whether their children attend Endeavour Elementary or not, parents are welcome and encouraged to attend.  This is an amazing opportunity to enhance the ever-growing partnership of our schools and the Cocoa community!
