Four BPS Students Awarded at the 2010 Intel International Science Fair

Four Brevard students have earned awards at the prestigious 2010 Intel International Science Fair in San Jose, California. The Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) is the world's largest pre-college celebration of science. Held annually in May, the Intel ISEF brings together nearly 1,500 students from more than 40 nations to compete for scholarships, tuition grants, internships, scientific field trips and prizes. ISEF was founded in 1950 by the Society for Science and the Public (formerly Science Service) , a nonprofit organization dedicated to public engagement in scientific research and education. Intel is the title sponsor of this prestigious, international competition.      

Winners from Brevard were:  

 

Almas Abdulla, West Shore Junior/Senior High School

Category Award: 2nd Place Mathematics ($1500)

Special Award: American Mathematical Society ($250) 

 

Talia Greene, Cocoa Beach Junior/Senior High School

Special Award: Sierra Nevada College Scholarship ($96,000) 

 

Justin Ramsaran, Palm Bay High School

Category Award: 3rd place Engineering & Transportation ($1000) 

 

Zachary Melnik, Viera High School

Category Award: 4th place Electrical & Mechanical Engineering ($500)

Special Award: Drexel University Scholarship ($150,000)
