The Excellence in Visual Arts Award for 2010 – 2013 was awarded at the School Board Meeting September 14, 2010. Public School teachers in Brevard County have the opportunity to apply for an art award that showcases their art program. Fifteen Brevard Public Schools have this distinction. The award stays in place for three years at which time teachers may apply for renewal. Teachers with administrative support put together a portfolio that is judged by arbitrary art educators from outside of Brevard. The portfolios that pass the initial review are awarded a site visit from different art educators across the state.

The awarded schools were Stevenson Elementary School of the Arts and Merritt Island High School. The schools that renewed their 2010-2013 EVA Award were: Atlantis Elementary, Longleaf Elementary and West Shore JS High School.
