Mark Mullins Appointed Area I Superintendent

Dr. Brian T. Binggeli will recommend the appointment of Mark Mullins as the Area I Superintendent at the June 15 Board meeting. Mullins is currently the principal of Clearlake Middle School.  Mullins’ new appointment is effective June 16.

“Mark is an exceptional administrator and he will do an amazing job in this challenging position,” said Superintendent, Dr. Brian T. Binggeli. “He will continue to place the needs of our students first as he had in every position he has held in our district.”

Mullins fills the position held by Cynthia Van Meter. Van Meter was appointed as the Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. That job was left vacant when Brenda Blackburn accepted a Superintendent’s position in Virginia.

Mullins’ career in Brevard started at Cocoa Beach Jr./Sr. High School in 1994 where he taught Geometry and Algebra. From 2000 to 2002, Mullins served as the Director of Brevard Prevention Plus in the Office of Public Safety. He became the assistant principal of Southwest Middle School for the 2002-2003 school year where he worked until he moved to serve as assistant principal at Palm Bay High School in 2004. He was promoted to principal of Clearlake Middle School in 2005.

“Clearlake Middle School and the entire Cocoa community have provided some of the most rewarding professional experiences I have ever had and they will stay with me forever. I have been blessed to have had this opportunity to serve the students and families of Cocoa as well as work with such an impressive and dedicated group of professionals,” Mullins said. “I appreciate the confidence Dr. Binggeli and the Board have in these experiences along with my ability to continue to serve as an instructional leader in the South Area.”
