Third Annual ‘Food 4 Thought’ Drive

Help Feed the Needy

Brevard Public Schools will begin the third annual ‘Food 4 Thought’ food drive to benefit local food pantries that assist Brevard families in need. The food drive for employees, students and the community will begin on Sept. 7 and will continue through Sept. 17. All schools and district offices will be supporting a food pantry in their community.

“The growing numbers of families relying on food pantries has surged in our worsening economy,” said Superintendent Dr. Brian T. Binggeli.  “It is extremely important as a society that its citizens understand the importance of pulling together for a common cause and we feel this is a valuable lesson for our students.”

Last year’s drive was extremely successful, helping the food pantries bridge the gap between the summer months and the Thanksgiving food drives.  Parents and other members of the community are encouraged to donate. Non-perishable food and basic needs items can be dropped off at any school or district office between Sept. 7 and 17.

Monetary donations can be accepted by check or money order only and should be made payable to the Second Harvest Food Bank.  For more information, please visit the district’s homepage by going to  www.brevardschools.org and click on the video spotlight or call District Communications at 321-633-1000 ext. 796.
