Your school is very interested in maintaining a safe environment for all students. However, accidents happen even in the best of circumstances. Therefore, we strongly recommend that parents with health insurance (that has deductibles or co-payments) and parents without health insurance consider the benefit of purchasing student accident insurance.
For a one-time payment of $9 for elementary students and $15 for secondary students many of your out-of-pocket expenses will be reimbursed. When a trip to the emergency room for those without health insurance costs upwards of $800 and for those with insurance that require a deductible up to $75 or more just one use of the insurance policy will more than pay for itself. This does not include the added benefit of being reimbursed for crutches, ambulance costs, follow up doctor visits etc.
A brochure has been placed in your child’s registration materials and I ask that you seriously consider purchasing student accident insurance this coming year. If you cannot find the brochure, you can purchase the policy on-line at www.schoolinsuranceofflorida.com. You also have the option of expanding the coverage to cover your child 24-hours per day from the date of purchase until the start of the next school year. The 24-hour coverage means if your child is hurt in their weekend soccer games, practices, or during the summer while on vacation out of state you have the same reimbursement benefits available to you.
I hope that you will consider this valuable opportunity; doing so may just alleviate your financial worries when your child needs medical attention due to an accident.
