Each
year the World Peace Art Exhibit visits a site to celebrate world art and hope
for world peace. This year the Kennedy
Space Center was chosen in celebration of the completion of the International
Space Station. The Government of Japan and the cities of
Nagasaki & Hiroshima invited 100 Apollo students, parents and
faculty to attend the World Art Exhibit where the students exchanged art work
with the Japanese artists and performed for dignitaries. Students worked directly with the famous
Japanese artists in creating origami, Japanese art, and signature
paintings. According to Dr. Pam O’Kell,
“this was one of memorable educational and cultural experiences for students I
have encountered. The students will always appreciate the art.”
