Congratulations to this year’s Teacher of the Year! The winner was announced last month at the Thrasher-Horne Center for the Arts during a ceremony to honor all Clay County Teachers and Employees of the Year.
Clay County’s Teacher of the Year is Jennifer Moore who teaches 6th Grade at Coppergate Elementary. Mrs. Moore has 7 years of teaching experience. She is also involved in numerous school and community organizations, including: 6th Grade Writing Mentoring Program, Science Fair, Ancient Times Festival, Relay for Life, Alpha Delta Pi, Step-Up Florida, etc.
“I believe students will rise or fall depending on the expectations teachers have for them,” says Moore. “This is why I continuously push my students to levels they did not know they were capable of achieving. It is extremely rewarding to see all of the hard work, effort and determination come to fruition in my intensive reading students. Many of these students enter my class being labeled as low achievers when in actuality they are just underachieving. These students have the ability to do well, they just are not aware that they can.”
