Jacksonville Jaguars Coach Jack Del Rio recently
stopped by WilliamM.RainesHigh School to talk to student athletes about the importance
of education, never giving up and that nothing is impossible.
The Coach spoke about his life experiences, starting
from playing high school and college football to going to the NFL and then
learning he was being let go. He credited his father, Tony Dungy and his wife
for having the biggest impact on his life and helping him to realize what was
truly important in life – which was relationships, not money.
The students listened intently as Del Rio spoke about making mistakes and how “when things
get tough and when things get hard and uncomfortable, you have to stay the
course.” He told the students that something will happen to them that will
challenge them and he urged each of them to hang on.
CoachDelRio opened up the floor to students and answered
questions about why they did not draft Tim Tebow and how he thought the team
would do next year. Del
Rio simply responded
by stating that the Saints were in last place in their division in 2008, and
that is where the Jaguars were last year. The Saints won the Super Bowl last
year.
