The Florida Section of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) has awarded San Pablo Elementary – a Health & Fitness Magnet School - a $4,000 Share the Love Grant to implement the QuickStart Tennis Program.
“We are so excited to receive this grant,” said Principal Kim Bays. “It’s another step toward pumping up our Health & Fitness Magnet Program at San Pablo Elementary.”
Half of the grant will be used to purchase equipment for the QuickStart Tennis Program, which is equipment modified in size and structure for children under 10 years of age, and the other half will go toward wages for the after-school instructor.
The Health and Fitness Magnet Program provides opportunities for academic excellence through an enriched and integrated curriculum with an emphasis placed on health and fitness. Beginning with the philosophy of a sound mind and sound body, this program provides the encouragement and opportunity to develop lifetime health-and-fitness skills along with focusing on interpersonal skills and nutrition. Students receive instruction in team sports and gain experience in perceptual motor skills and lifelong activity fitness skills.
