Middle Schools' News Brief

Landrum Middle School celebrated Veterans Day with a presentation to the Patriot Service Dogs, a local organization which trains service dogs for disabled veterans. Landrum's Middle Act Club raised $2,500 for the purchase and training of a dog.

Landrum Middle School is also hosting its Third Annual Day of Thanksgiving and Remembrance on Monday, November 22. This event, coordinated by Landrum’s IMPACT Team, consists of a walk around the track which will have markers representing those people who have inspired the team on the battlefields in foreign countries or in the battle against cancer. This event is open to the public. The walk is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Landrum Middle School track.

The IMPACT Team is a service organization whose mission is to make others aware of the needs of their neighbors through servant leadership. Their goal is to provide help both physical and emotional support through service projects, as well as financial support through fundraising. The IMPACT Team raised over $7,000 which will go to five different organizations and charities who will be honored at the walk. They are; The Breast Cancer Society-The Donna Foundation, The Wounded Warrior Project, Community Hospice-PedsCare, F.A.C.E. Foundation and the Child Cancer Fund.

All middle schools are gearing up for the High School Showcase and the academics presentations scheduled for January. This event provides an opportunity for eighth graders to see and hear what high schools have to offer.
